Concept Plan

Tavistock is designing a master plan to reinvigorate the North End waterfront location on the Commercial Wharf Pier and to enhance public access.

Tavistock Development’s holdings on the Pier, which are registered under the legal entity Commercial Wharf East, LLC, encompass two parcels located at 88-91 Commercial Wharf East. There are two existing buildings totaling nearly 16,000 square feet.

Adjacent properties include the Boston Yacht Harbor, Commercial Wharf East Condominium and Joe’s American Bar & Grill, which is owned by our sister company Tavistock Restaurant Collection.

Proposed concept plans contemplate the idea of creating an inn and restaurant in multiple buildings along the pier.

One of the proposed buildings would replace the existing Joe’s American Bar & Grill building (Lot 8), another other would replace the existing partly burned building (Lots 6 & 7). Current plans do not include making any changes to the existing Boston Yacht Haven Inn & Marina (Lot 1).

A highlight of the proposed redevelopment includes a new, pedestrian Harborwalk that would extend the full length of the pier and provide the public with enhanced access to the waterway and provide additional protections against flooding.

While our ambitions are bold and our plans creative, we are developing concepts that are within the City’s approved building guidelines. These guidelines dictate important building requirements in terms of height and permitted uses and prioritize those uses so that new development enhances the public’s access and opportunities along Boston’s waterfront.
